Eligibility criteria
As of January 1, 2021, a candidate must be between the ages of 18 and 40. The age relaxations for various categories are as follows:
- Ex-Servicemen: 42 years
- OBC/ MOBC: 43 years
- SC/ST (P)/ST (H): 45 years
- Persons with Disability (PWD): 50 years
Small Family Norms: According to the government’s Small Family Norms policy, no one with more than two live children from a single or many partners on or after January 1, 2021, is eligible for appointment.
TET Certificate: Those who have completed the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department would be able to apply, and candidates who will appear and pass the Assam TET to be held in October 2021, will also be eligible to apply when the results are announced.
Medium of Instruction:The candidate’s Language-I of the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) must correspond to the medium of instruction at the school where the candidate desires to apply. For example, if a candidate desires to apply for a position in an Assamese Medium School, he or she must have Assamese as Language-I in the Assam TET. Similarly, for Bodo/Garo/Bengali/Manipuri/Hindi/Hmar, etc. language schools, the applicant must have Bodo/Garo/Bengali/Manipuri/Hindi/Hmar, etc. as Language-I in their Assam TET administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department.
The Medium of Instruction requirement applies solely to the positions of Assistant Teacher at LP School and Assistant Teacher, Science Teacher at UP School.
Educational qualification
Assistant Teacher (LP):Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 percent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 45 percent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in compliance with the NCTE Regulations 2002.

Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% grades and a 4-Year Bachelor of Elementary Education
(OR)
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) diploma with at least 50% marks and a 2-Year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
(AND)
Passed the Assam TET for LPS, which was administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department.
Assistant Teacher (UP):Graduate from a UGC-recognized university with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B. Ed. or D. Ed. (Special Education) or B. Ed. (Special Education) and a pass in the Assam TET for UPS administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department.
Science Teacher (UP):B. Sc. from a UGC-recognized university and a 2-year diploma in elementary education or B. Ed. or D. Ed. (Special Education) or B. Ed. (Special Education) and successful completion of the Assam TET for UPS (Science and Mathematics) administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department.
Assamese Language Teacher:Graduate from a UGC-recognized university with Assamese as one of the courses and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed. or D.Ed. (Special Education) or B. Ed. (Special Education) and a pass in the Assam TET for UPS administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department.
Manipuri Language Teacher:Graduate from a UGC-recognized university with Manipuri as one of the courses and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed. or D.Ed. (Special Education) or B. Ed. (Special Education) and a pass in the Assam TET for UPS administered by the Assam Elementary Education Department.
